Reiki For Everyday Life

By, Stephanie Fredricksen

So many of my clients have never heard of Reiki, therefore are shocked when they first experience it. In my professional opinion, I think we ALL could use some basic knowledge in Reiki, for this is a system that we all have the innate ability to do on ourselves and others. Some of us are naturals at energy work , but everyone can practice and develop skills.  Whether you choose to go to a professional or to learn to develop your own skills, Reiki should be used in our everyday lives.

Reiki is very gentle, harmless healing system used to treat physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual ailments. It is considered a holistic approach for bringing balance and harmony to all aspects of a person. It can also be used for personal and spiritual awareness and growth, although reiki can stand alone as a healing system for those not wanting a spiritual practice.

The word Reiki (pronounced ray-key), which is Japanese in origin means, "Universal Life-force Energy," or in literal translation Rei means "Universal" and Ki means "Life Energy". There are a few other translations for Reiki, but they all come down to using this universal energy to treat different imbalances within the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of a person.

Going a little deeper we see that the word Energy has many meanings, but in reality it only has one that is complete.  "It is ALL that is," or in other words everything from electricity for our homes, the food we eat, quantum physics, light waves, atoms, and even thoughts and emotions.  There is both long standing knowledge passed down over the centuries and more modern research that can all concur with that Energy is in Everything.

As a Reiki practitioner, one uses Reiki energy, which is already within us all.  There is a pure form of Reiki energy that we can tap into through our chakra system, which is projected into the energy systems of the client.  Reiki does the rest!  After all, it is "Life Energy!"  This energy is a combination of ultimate intelligence, love, compassion, and powerful healing.  It gives and supports life and since we are all made from this energy our bodies, minds, and souls recognize it easily.

Reiki is a universal energy, but since it is used by humans who have a their own life experiences that they bring into their practice, it can be used with different techniques that vary with the practitioner. I myself, have had three Reiki teachers and add some Shaman training and voilà you have the making of a very diverse Reiki practitioner.  I love learning all the different ways in which Reiki can be shared and used to heal myself and others.

For those of you who would love to learn more about Reiki you may look into finding a workshop to attend near you.  I wouldn't necessarily recommend doing this long distance, for there is definitely a difference it can make when you experience Reiki in a supportive atmosphere with a good teacher.  There are Reiki teachers all over the world, so finding one is easy.  If you have any questions, please leave your question in the comments area below and that way others can learn the answer as well.  Thanks

If you already have experience with Reiki I have a question for you, what forms of Reiki have you used to help yourself and others?  I would really like to shed some light on all the different techniques that can be used while practicing Reiki.  Thank you!
