We are very excited to be planning our first backpacking trip of 2018. We have selected a good beginner level of backpacking. The trailhead to Willow Lake is about 11 miles up Big Cottonwood Canyon & we can carpool up to the parking area where the trailhead will start. This hike is just under 1 mile, but it is pretty steep. It eventually levels out the closer you get to the lake. We can do it!
Moose often hang around this lake, so keep an eye out. The lake is fuller in the spring and summer. Wildflowers are also abundant in the summer months. Camping is allowed as long as you are 200 feet from the lake & that is exactly what we will be doing. Swimming is not allowed.
- Backpacking gear
- Water and food
We will be meeting at the mouth of Big Cottonwood Canyon in the Park & Ride parking lot just off of Wasatch Blvd and Ft. Union Blvd.
